Fun with Rating Lists

Part One - What if we remove all draws from games and only calculate a rating list based on won and lost games, what would change and which engine profit the most.

Part Two - What are the best killer engines. The best killer engine is the engine that has won its games in the shortest number of moves. The minimum number of won games must be at least 100.

Part One

We start removing all draws from the mainbase of the Gambit Rating List, then run a new fictional rating list and last create a sorted list which engines profit the most....and those who don't profit at all! And so we get 3 lists.

The normal official Gambit Rating List. For eye-pleasing reason we only list the top-10, view the full list here.

Part Two

in search for the best killer engine

The best killer engine is the engine that has won its games in the shortest number of moves. The minimum number of won games must be at least 100. For the Gambit Rating List we get:

PGN database : pgn\mainbase-40-2.pgn
Minimal won games : 100
Longest game : 398 moves Booot 6.5 - Ethereal 12.00 1/2-1/2
Shortest game : 11 moves Foxsee 7.8 - BitGenie 5 1-0
Longest won game : 249 moves Lc0 v27 - Igel 3.0.0 1-0
Shortest won game : 11 moves Foxsee 7.8 - BitGenie 5 1-0

 No. Engine Games Moves
  1. Marvin 5.0 579 49.8
  2. Lzero v27 591 51.4

  8. Arasan 12.2 392 52.9
  9. Cheng 4.41 648 53.2
 10. Pedone 3.0 265 54.0

110. RubiChess 2.1 463 66.4
111. Olithink 5.9.5 199 66.8

116. Lc0 v27 307 88.9

The oddity we see here that the CPU version of Lc0 lists second while the GPU version is at the bottom of the list. The full list plus the 4 PGN's can be viewed here.

CCRL

in search for the best killer engine

The number of engines of the CCRL list is too big to get reasonable results hence with split them into 8 elo sections and each elo section has its own best killer engine list. The links are:

Following the GRL Marvin 5.0 is the best killer engine and while the engine also tops the CCRL 3000-3200 elo pool we declare that Marvin 5.0 is the best killer engine.

For what's it worth of course
